Yanagin / Moocooboolah District Camp 10th June 2011

15 Scouts, 1 Cub and 5 Leaders from 1st Meadowbank attended the annual Yanagin
/ Moocooboolah District Camp on the June long weekend. This year's camp was held
at Glen Rock Scout Camp just south of Newcastle. While some of the adventurous
did the Friday afternoon / evening drive and set up camp in the dark, the majority
arrived on Saturday morning. Saturday's weather was pretty average with regular
showers making camp life difficult. Saturday night was a shocker with torrential rain
all night which caused flooding through most of the camp sites. After much discussion
amongst the Leaders, it was decided to call off the camp and leave on Sunday afternoon.

PS: While the camp was cut short, 1st Meadowbank Scout Troop won the best
Moocooboolah Troop Camping Award plus Gus Standen's Patrol won the best
Moocooboolah Patrol Camping Award. George Simpson (Moocooboolah DSL) awards
both shields at our Thursday night meeting. Congratulations to all the Scouts that
attended and work hard in difficult conditions.
