The Group Committee
The Group Committee is a dedicated group of parents, and community members, that work hard to
ensure that our Group has sufficient funds, and policies in place, to enable the Leaders to run great Scouting
programs for our Youth Members.

Committee meetings are open to all parents to attend. Our Group is keen for the views of all
parents - Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, and Venturers to be heard. Attending the Group
Committee meeting is the perfect avenue for you to voice any concerns you may have. All parents (not just those
on the Committee) are invited to attend the monthly Committee meeting.
Group Committee meetings are on the last Tuesday of each month (excluding school
holidays).

The role of a Scout parent
It takes a lot of caring, enthusiastic parents to make a Scout Group
work. A Scout Group can only exist as a result of parent involvement. When you sign your
child up to become a Scout Member, not only are there certain expectations on your child, but also the
family. It is expected that you will be able to support your children by volunteering to help out in various
ways.
We need parents to train as Leaders, we need parents to serve on the Committee to make sure
all the jobs around the Scout Hall get done; we need all families to help with fundraising. Without funds we
cannot train new Leaders, run the hall, or replace worn out equipment.
We need parents to serve on rosters for Joeys and Cubs plus assist with BBQ’s, fundraising and
working bees. This may sound like a lot, but if we all pitch in and share the load the work is not too hard,
some of it is even fun.
We can only offer the best Scouting experience for all our Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, and
Leaders, if we have the active support of all families.
